Project Specialist VISTA-CL Community Land Trust- C3TC

The CLCLT is the only perpetually affordable homeownership organization serving the City of Minneapolis. Since assisting its first household into ownership in 2004, the CLCLT has been able to assist 268 low- and moderate-income (less than 80% of Area Median Income) households into affordable home ownership and has now facilitated 41 resales of existing CLCLT homes. Key programs of the organization include: Housing Development: Acquisition of existing single-family or duplex properties for rehabilitation or constructs new single-family homes then sells them to an income-qualified household. - Homebuyer Initiated Program (HIP): Through HIP, buyers identify a home of their choice within their purchasing power (mortgage plus CLCLT affordability assistance), within the City of Minneapolis. - Homeowner Engagement: Sustaining long-term, supportive relationships with its homeowners is a core value of the CLCLT. The foundational goals of this approach included: Facilitating strong connections between the organization and homeowners; homeowners and the community; and between each other. - Lending: In July 2015, the CLCLT merged with Neighborhood Housing Services of Minneapolis (NHSM). NSHM had been, historically, the primary lender of neighborhood-funded home improvement, emergency repair and down payment assistance programs in North Minneapolis. Currently, NHSM continues to services the loans it originated prior to joining the CLCLT, and in second quarter, will begin servicing new loans originated with neighborhood-based funding. *This position is part of the C3 Twin Cities VISTA Program. C3 Twin Cities offers a cohort experience rooted in a social justice framework. It also offers $400 of monthly housing support, transportation support and professional development opportunities.
