High Plains Library District Summer Associate

The High Plains Library District Foundation supports our district of branch libraries by raising funds for literacy and outreach programming and supporting the District mission. The vision of the High Plains Library District (HPLD) is to build a solid reputation as our community’s first and foremost choice for life-long learning, and seen as a necessary and important community asset as well as a community destination and gathering place. We operate on the principles that we will anticipate and meet the educational and entertainment needs of our community, that no HPLD community will go unserved, that we will continuously innovate and we will operate from a place of “yes”. The High Plains Library District prides itself on innovate and collaborative methods of providing service to our community members. HPLD serves Weld and part of Boulder County, with 277,670 residents spanning 3,987 miles. 50% of children under the age of six in Weld County live below 200% FPL. This affects their access to education. Only 38% of families that live below 200% FPL enroll their children in preschool versus the Colorado average of 49% (Colorado Children’s Campaign 2013). The drop¬out rate for Weld County is 21.2%. The largest district in the area, Greeley¬Evans District 6, serves 21,183 students representing 60 different languages.
