LaCasita Grants Writer and Donor Relations VISTA

Recognizing the growing, social, educational, and health needs of Latina immigrant women and their families in Louisville, a small group of concerned women – social workers, teachers, mothers and members of religious communities - sought input from and listened to the concerns of Latina women in order to find ways to address their needs. Since 2005, La Casita Center has serve Latinas and their families in Kentucky. La Casita Center enhances the well-being of Louisville's Latino community through education, empowerment, advocacy, and wellness. La Casita Center works intentionally to build a thriving community based on mutual support and respect. The VISTA project focuses on increasing sustainability by strengthening grant and donor processes. The VISTA will research new grant opportunities and create or revise procedures to streamline the grant application process. The VISTA will also improve the quality and effectiveness of La Casita's donor relations and tracking to improve the organization's fundraising capacity.

Member Duties : The VISTA will work closely with a small staff to assess the current and past grant processes at La Casita, developing a system to track grants and identify which grants should be reapplied for in the future. Through research, the VISTA will identify other grant opportunities and develop a timeline for grant applications and reports. By the end of the year, the VISTA will develop a "master grant" application that can be used to apply for grants in the future.
