Gain experience in the Minnesota State college center that earned the 2016 Innovative Student Affairs Program Award due to its supportive services! Minneapolis Community and Technical College provides access to the transformative power of education in a diverse and dynamic downtown environment.The departments within the MCTC Student Support Center work in conjunction with one another to consistently provide holistic and inclusive support services to our students in a compassionate and respectful environment. The work and goals of this position include building capacity that will help MCTC students through referrals, services and outside agency coordination – allowing for students to gain access, information and support to address specific needs and gain self-sufficiency. The work and goals will be accomplished by leveraging additional community partners, conducting research and seeking out additional funding streams related to services such as housing, food security, health, financial literacy, conflict resolution issues, issues related to prior participation in criminal justice system (ex-offenders), domestic violence, sexual violence and related issues that often cause disparities. Additional goals include assisting in expansion of Student Parent Center services and programming specific to student parents. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***

Member Duties : * Initiate additional community partnerships in the areas of housing, food security, health, financial literacy, conflict resolution, assistance for ex-offenders and individuals who have experience domestic violence and sexual violence. *Research, seek out and prepare applications and proposals for grants as well as develop creative fundraising options to address the above. *Prepare or assist with preparation of brochures and other related marketing materials for the center. * Assist in recruitment and training of volunteers. * Create, and assist with creation of research related to health and resource programming for student parents and individuals experiencing housing and employment barriers (including ex-offenders and low income students). * Other duties as referenced in the VAD and those related to those activities listed here and in the VAD.
