VISTA Literacy Coalition Development Coordinator

Do you have a passion for strengthening nonprofits serving people living in poverty? Join our team! As a VISTA member you will serve with a vibrant, tightly knit team of professionals to implement innovative strategies to meet the vast demand for literacy services in Central Texas. The Literacy Coalition supports literacy programs outside the public K-12 educational system, including adult basic literacy, GED prep, English language instruction for adults, family and early childhood literacy programs, and specialized training for health literacy, computer literacy, and financial literacy. The Literacy Coalition connects literacy organizations in our region to the funding, advocacy, professional development, and service support they need to provide high quality instruction. While there are 50+ organizations in Central Texas working to make individuals more literate, these agencies are often housed in non-profit organizations struggling to provide adequate resources for their literacy programs: fewer than one in twenty adults needing literacy services has access to a program in Central Texas. Make a real difference in the lives of thousands of families by helping the Literacy Coalition secure the vital resources necessary to support the network of regional literacy service programs. Learn in-depth, cutting edge strategies of non-profit fundraising, public relations, outreach, donor engagement, volunteer recruitment, marketing, communications, public awareness, and project management. One energetic and dynamic VISTA member will help us mobilize and inspire our community to be 100% literate, employable, and engaged!
