Wright County Community Action Food Security Project (VSA)

*Accepting applications on a rolling basis, so apply today!* Wright County Community Action's mission is "to prevent and resolve conditions of poverty in partnership with the community". We have a broad landscape of supportive services including: Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC, Energy Assistance, Home Weatherization, Foreclosure Prevention, Home Buyer Training, Transitional Housing, Home Rehab Loans, MNsure Navigation, Tax Preparation, Family Budgeting, Clothing Center, and Food Security programs. In our service area nearly 1,900 individuals are living in poverty, over 2,000 individuals who are food insecure, and nearly 1,500 children qualify for free or reduced school lunches. Our Food Security programs have experienced major growth in the last year in terms of reaching and serving more individuals, however, they have grown at a rate in which our systems and processes are not fully sustainable. In the summer of 2017, we plan to host a VISTA Summer Associate to create efficient processes, resources, and materials needed to support two developing food security programs, the Mobile Food Network and the Mobile Food Shelf so we can more effectively support those in need.
