Wright County Community Action Head Start Project (VSA)

*Accepting applications on a rolling basis, so apply today!* Wright County Community Action's mission is "to prevent and resolve conditions of poverty in partnership with the community". We have a broad landscape of supportive services including: Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC, Energy Assistance, Home Weatherization, Foreclosure Prevention, Home Buyer Training, Transitional Housing, Home Rehab Loans, MNsure Navigation, Tax Preparation, Family Budgeting, Clothing Center, and Food Security programs. In the summer of 2017, we plan to host a VISTA Summer Associate to support our Head Start Expansion project. To expand access to high-quality childcare and education for low-income families, we are partnering with a local school to add three new Head Start classrooms that will serve 60 additional children in the 2017-2018 school year. In addition, to better accommodate families, we are transitioning from a four-hour to a six-hour daily program. Our VISTA Summer Associate will play a critical role in helping to coordinate the logistics of the program partnering with the Head Start director to re-tool daily programming to accommodate for the longer days, securing all classroom materials, creating marketing and recruitment materials to engage children, families, and volunteers. In addition, the VISTA Summer Associate will get the opportunity to research and write grant proposals to fund the early childhood education programming. This is a great opportunity to grow your resume and use your experience and skills to do some fun, meaningful work this summer through AmeriCorps VISTA!
