Vinton County Economic Development Board VISTA

The Vinton County Cares VISTA will help to build and implement a framework for volunteerism in Vinton County. Vinton County Cares is a new initiative aimed at reestablishing volunteering as a vital component of the community. The VISTA will utilize social media, press releases and other materials to create awareness of and appreciation for community service in Vinton County and will create a communications hub to connect volunteers and projects, both online and in-person. They will develop a script to share and then personally recruit volunteers and volunteer teams from businesses and organizations by meeting with leaders or groups and promoting the value of Vinton County Cares. They will establish communications with larger organizations like ServeOhio, and develop partnerships with other local groups like the Vinton County Schools Beta Club(s). The VISTA will seek out opportunities for a Day of Service by surveying the community for opportunities and needs, and do the planning for and implement a Day of Service in the county. Through the partnership with Beta, they will develop an online volunteer course to be offered twice per year to prepare individuals for volunteering in their community; and promote and launch those trainings. They will complete all the objectives so as to be able to hand off the programming to other volunteers at the end of their service.
