St. Clair Community Revitalization Connectivity 2021 VISTA

St. Clair Superior Development Corporation’s VISTA project will be a significant component of our larger, multi-faceted Revitalization and Connectivity Pilot Program – will aims to establish a foundational basis for targeted community development projects, public outreach and engagement, public space improvements as well as provide operational support increasing SCSDC’s staff capacity. The VISTA project will build the capacity of SCSDC to provide affordable housing, provide housing counseling, and build our capacity to increase and maintain assets for individuals. As a central component in the surrounding community engagement strategy (focused on “hard to reach” populations), the project will conduct code enforcement surveys, engage the community with resources, and assist SCSDC in our approach to targeting rehabilitation investments in 2022.

Member Duties : The successful VISTA will survey area housing conditions, gather data, share information, coordinate counseling services, and generally create the foundation for SCSDC’s long term housing plan. Aspects of surveying include exploring the neighborhood, talking with residents, and updating lists for future rehabilitation projects. The creation and implementation of a housing / financial counseling program in partnership with nearby area organizations such as Famicos Foundation, MidTown Cleveland, Campus District, Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries and others will also be a central component of success in this role.
