Pickaway County Community Action Organization VISTA
 
 
 
The goal of this project is to build capacity throughout the agencies several programs that address CNCS initiatives. The selected member will work with projects to coordinate with PICCA’s Free Tax Clinic, PICCA’s Veterans Transitional Shelter, PICCA’s Neighborhood Center and PICCA’s Weatherization and Housing programs. The project will focus on the CDC VISTA goal of providing affordable housing through projects associated with the Housing Department including assistance with grant writing and new partner development. Time will also be spent working with the Emergency Services- Veterans services department in assisting with the community needs assessment and programming for homeless veterans and military families. The member will also work toward the objective of building capacity to increase and maintain assets for individuals. Through coordination with PICCA’s Free Tax Clinic, the VISTA member will potentially recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to assist with Free Tax preparation, assisting clients in accessing all credits and refunds they are due allowing them to build assets and maintain financial stability. This project will serve to create a system of volunteer recruitment that will assist in sustaining volunteers long after the program is complete. Finally, throughout the program, the VISTA member will coordinate all of the above objectives with the newly developed Neighborhood Center. Through this coordination, the programs will grow together in both capacity and organization.

Member Duties : Job Summary: The purpose of this VISTA member position is build and develop programming to support affordable housing, community networking and partnership development, and volunteer outreach/engagement while promoting opportunities for positive change in the quality of personal and community life. • Responsible for identifying resources and educational opportunities to develop programming to support the project initiatives. • Responsible to conduct public outreach to support programming to include creating community events. • Develop partnerships with local public and private sector organizations to increase programming activities and resources. • Assist in the research and analysis of the Community Needs Assessment. • Assist in grant writing for funding as well as participate in the development of fundraising and in-kind support to benefit programs meeting the project initiatives. • Recruit, Train, and coordinate part time volunteers.
