Collinwood & Nottingham Villages Development Corp VISTA

The Collinwood Nottingham Villages Neighborhood of Cleveland is at a critical point in its long history. While some portion of our community are relatively stable, other areas have long struggled with poverty, crime and disinvestment, as well as an aging housing stock with owners who have little financial ability to maintain their property. The work that CNVDC does in the area of housing stabilization and resident capacity building is important both towards maintaining stable conditions in the North Collinwood and Euclid Green neighborhoods while also stabilizing conditions in the South Collinwood and Nottingham neighborhoods. CNVDC’s goal of increasing home ownership and the provision of quality housing to low income individuals creates a lasting asset for residents, reducing poverty and encouraging positive economic mobility. Building on the objectives achieved in the 2016-2017 VISTA program, the VISTA Housing Services Coordinator will work with staff to implement the neighborhood housing strategy developed in 2016-2017, particularly focusing on the investment nodes outlined in the plan. The VISTA Housing Services Coordinator will use the NST Web app and other sources to compile and interpret housing data to continually assess the state of the local neighborhood housing market. They will work with staff to determine which houses in the community can be targeted for redevelopment within the housing investment nodes identified in the plan, and connect those redevelopment opportunities to local providers of quality affordable housing. They will identify area partners and resources that can provide housing counseling to area residents.
