Building on discussion, planning, and securing of buy-in from university presidents, school district superintendents, and key community-based organization stakeholders from across the Maryland-DC region, MDCCC is poised to help communities in this region implement the College, Career, and Civic Readiness Through Civic Engagement (CONNECTS) program. The focus of CONNECTS is to engage K-12 students in poverty and first-generation college students in joint volunteer projects designed to both meet identified community needs and practice/apply college, career, and civic readiness skills.

Member Duties : The MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA will seek funding and resource opportunities to support local and regional CONNECTS planning, coordination, and evaluation. The member will convene stakeholders and launch CONNECTS initiatives across the region, organize and put on events that provide opportunities for relevant training and sharing. The VISTA will also employ a range of tools to both analyze and evaluate initiatives, and promote and share information about CONNECTS initiatives.
