MDCCC Community Resource Connections Program
 
 
 
The Community Resource Connections Program is an economic development program that will engage local stakeholders with resources to develop greater economic and financial stability for the surrounding communities. The project will focus on local, low-income job-seekers that need additional and enhanced services, such as reading literacy training, workforce skill development and criminal record expungement. Goal: provide a local and easily-accessible program for residents who are unemployed or underemployed to be connected to local businesses and institutions Program has four components: - Serving as a community liaison, ensuring that all area residents were aware of the work of WIA through membership engagement, marketing, event planning, and social media efforts - Conducting intensive community outreach to engage potential job-seekers and business owners as well as steering committee members - Develop and organize economic opportunity programming - Assist the Co-Presidents of WIA in leveraging and sustaining new partnerships and funding resources for the organization

Member Duties : The MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA member will develop and implement the Community Resource Connections Program which will serve youth ages 14-24 in the Waverlies and Ednor Gardens -Lakeside. The MDCCC AmeriCorps member will work with local residents to create a steering committee to determine what resources are needed and available and how best to engage job-seekers and resource providers. The MDCCC AmeriCorps member will coordinate resources, funding opportunities, career development workshops and job training programs, to help create expanded opportunities for youth.
