MDCCC University of Maryland SAFE Center

The University of Maryland SAFE Center is the only service provider located in Prince George’s County that provides comprehensive services for victims of sex and labor trafficking regardless of age, gender, or nationality. Onsite and through partnerships, the SAFE Center provides social services, legal services, primary medical care, and mental health services to trafficking victims. The MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA project will help build the SAFE Center’s capacity to provide sustainable economic empowerment opportunities for trafficking survivors in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. The proposed MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA project will also build the SAFE Center’s capacity to recruit and organize volunteers. The creation of a volunteer program will allow the SAFE Center to more effectively serve larger numbers of trafficking survivors and help us respond to requests for crisis intervention.
