MDCCC Pathways to College, Career & Civic Readiness Project

Serving a diverse student population that is 50% economically disadvantaged, The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Pathways to College, Career & Civic Readiness (PC3R) program engages 5,000 new students annually with the goals of supporting retention, deepening learning and engagement and closing opportunity gaps for low-income college students in Central Maryland. With its anti-poverty focus, the PC3R MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA one-year project will expand CCBC’s capacity to enhance and scale-up educational equity efforts through program coordination, research and evaluation. The MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA will 1) support the development of Pathways program initiatives, specifically the mentoring program and high-impact practice infusion project, and 2) expand CCBC’s partnerships with Baltimore City (BCiPS) & Baltimore County (BCPS) Title I schools, Reading Partners, and CCBC CONNECT partners to strengthen the academic and civic engagement of CCBC students & to empower low-income Baltimore youth with literacy skills, enhancing the pipeline for the college, career and civic readiness.
