College Health Corps, Wellshare International

The mission of WellShare International is to advance sustainable community health around the world. WellShare International works with refugee and immigrant populations in Minnesota and also implements community health programs in East Africa. This program will focus on work in Minnesota. As the VISTA volunteer, you will support WellShare’s capacity building and sustainability through the development of fundraising activities and communications efforts and by assisting our current Minnesota community-based public health programs. WellShare has over 15 innovative public health programs, and we are eager to engage more students and community members in our work and to increase our visibility. In the past year, WellShare International has established a formal partnership with Saint Catherine University. As part of the Campus-Community Partnership you will strengthen and enhance this partnership by working with representatives at the University to reach their students who are interested in refugee/immigrant health. You will work with students to inform them about WellShare’s mission and our current volunteer and service learning opportunities and will help to organize outreach events for students at Saint Catherine’s or at WellShare’s headquarters. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early. Candidates must also email a resume and cover letter.***
