College Health Corps, North Hennepin Community College
Our North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) mission is: “Engaging students, Changing Lives. Our goal is to help students succeed in their academic, personal and professional endeavors. Data demonstrates that our growing population of underserved students are facing significant health and societal barriers to achieving these goals. NHCC recently opened two additional on-campus non-academic support services for students, the Health Clinic, and the Community Connections Resource Center. These services are free for students and connect them with resources in and around the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center areas. The VISTA will conduct capacity building activities in the Resource Center and assist NHCC in sustaining our community partnerships so we can improve access to resources for those who are most affected by health and income disparities in Minnesota. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early. Candidates must also email a resume and cover letter.***
