College Health Corps, Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is an open-door, comprehensive higher education institution committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Anoka-Ramsey is committed to responding to the educational needs of its changing communities and to providing opportunities for enhancing knowledge, skills, and values in a supportive learning environment. The vision of the college “is committed to developing articulate, critical and creative thinkers who are responsible contributors to the community.” The Mosaic Center is an educational hub designed to promote cross cultural learning and appreciation with the campus community. This VISTA project will focus on expanding resources available in the Mosaic Center, a space dedicated to the success of students of color and first generation college students. The goal of this project is to increase low-income and underrepresented students’ access to health wellness, and basic needs resources on Anoka Ramsey’s campus by assessing student needs and creating an implementation plan for a Student Resource and Support Center. We know that our students would like a good foundation for academic achievement and a healthy productive life and with VISTA, we plan to be able to make those supports available. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early. Candidates must also email a resume and cover letter.***
