OSMRE VISTA LIGHTS Ohio

The purpose of the LIGHTS program is to create a three-state (West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio) Innovation Ecosystem building on the region’s pioneering spirit and history of ingenuity in light of scarce resources. LIGHTS will create companies, high-wage jobs, and private investment in the coal-impacted project region by matching complex problems and opportunities facing corporations, communities, and individuals to a network of two strategically-placed Innovation Hubs and several Gateways throughout the tristate region. Innovation Hubs include incubation facilities, makerspace/prototype equipment, and areas for training and engineering expertise. Innovation Gateways provide paths to the larger Innovation Ecosystem. At their core, gateways serve as entry points, provide opportunities for building a sense of community in making products, inspire entrepreneurship and provide skill development (i.e., welding, 3D printing, woodworking, jewelry making, cooking, electronics, and/or product designing).
