Along with our 800 network members, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools, youth and senior sites, the Food Bank provides nutritious food for 71,500 different individuals weekly across 13 counties. Our 7,000 square mile service area stretches our staff to adequately build awareness of the need for hunger relief and engage supporters in every corner. With the help of VISTA team member’s, we will increase support to help us towards our strategic goal of providing 75 million meals by 2020 through volunteering and financial support.

Member Duties : The Community Engagement Ambassador will continue the work begun by our past VISTAs to build awareness of the need for hunger relief by sharing statistics and reports including the 2014 Hunger Study, annual Map the Meal Gap reports from Feeding America and national studies on poverty and food security. He/she will make presentations to corporate and community groups to talk about existing food bank programs to meet the needs of those in need of food assistance and engage new donors and groups in supporting the food bank with financial, in-kind or volunteer resources. We are seeking applicants with a passion for helping the hungry, strong public speaking and networking skills, the ability to work independently and self-motivated. Transportation and a willingness to travel throughout the assigned area are required. VISTAs will gain experience in fundraising, grant writing, volunteer recruitment, corporate community engagement and working with a respected non-profit organization.
