Promise Zone Workforce Development Service Learning

The Promise Zones initiative, launched by President Obama in 2014, works in partnership with local leaders in high-poverty communities to improve the quality of life of the Zone’s residents. Through collaborative efforts, Camden Promise Zone will complete the following goals to move Camden forward: increase economic activity, reduce serious and violent crime, improve education outcomes, improve health and wellness, and increase affordable and safe housing. Workforce development has been identified as a city priority as it relates to improved education, reduction in violence, and breaking the cycle of poverty. As the Promise Zone Workforce Development Service Learning Associate, you will serve as a champion for workforce development programs to increase the ability of youth in Camden to achieve self-sufficiency through employment. To support this goal, you will assist in coordinating volunteer opportunities that will allow program participants to explore a variety of career fields and gain meaningful experience and skills training. You will develop new volunteer placement partners and foster relationships with local government and non-profit entities to support youth in their pursuit of employment opportunities. You will serve as a liaison between workforce development programs and volunteer placement organizations to foster meaningful opportunities for youth and support the expansion of workforce development programming. This exciting position will provide the opportunity to build relationships with staff, community partners, and volunteer organizations as you serve to increase opportunities for youth. This position is an incredible opportunity to grow your career in community development, volunteer management, event planning, or workforce training. We look forward to working with someone who is driven to give back and expand the resources and pathways available to young adults in Camden City.
