ShareCorps- Sylvania Area Family Services
 
 
 
Our mantra is to Strengthen Sylvania "One Family at a Time". We offer: family, social, and youth programs and services. The F.U.N. Family Program (Families United in Nutrition), which is in collaboration with the OSU Extension Program where we offer two 10-week sessions in a semester on health and wellness education, teach families the value in food and planning on a budget. Weekly food distribution in our choice pantry, senior government commodities distribution, rent and utility assistance, after school childcare, summer enrichment camp, back to school back pack program, holiday basket program, youth diversion program, adult and youth volunteer program, job and resources service fairs, and free monthly dinners and lunches. We also have a youth community garden to teach STEM education and coordinate/distribute fresh produce in our food pantry. **This is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.

Member Duties : We are a small but mighty organization looking to end hunger and poverty in our community. This position will help the agency become more organized with the creation of a database for volunteers, donors, and clients. Help streamline our operations so we are able to serve more clients in need. The member will receive hands-on experience with creating new programming to better serve our clients needs. Assisting with grant writing/fund development and the recruitment/retention of volunteers. The member will be engaged with all of our staff and have mentoring opportunities with all of our programs.
