ShareCorps-Franklinton Rising- Communications Associate

Franklinton Rising purchases and remodels houses in the Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus Ohio. Simultaneously we attract local young adults, seventeen and older to the building trades, teaching and mentoring them from a Christian perspective of life and purpose, providing life skills and building trade job skills. Our staff along with our partners, licensed contractors, provide class instruction and on-the-job training in rehabbing houses, leading to full time positions in the trades. When sufficient skills are achieved, our trainees are promoted for employment leading to a productive career in a building trade. Then we offer affordable, desirable homes for rent and eventually sale, to these former trainees who are progressing and employed, as well as to others (these are houses that they have helped to rehab). These men and women, residents of Franklinton, are becoming property owners and positive role models in their community to encourage others.

Member Duties : The Vista member will develop and help implement recruiting communications for the local area residents, businesses, service and community organizations in addition to schools. Class training will be revised and improved to more effectively engage trainees. Data base systems for contacts will be researched, assessed and one implemented. The Vista member will also plan and organize 1-2 fund raising events to raise $30,000 for Franklinton Rising.
