WSU VISTA-Rainbows United-Information Technology VISTA

Rainbows United, Inc. enhances the lives of children with special needs and their families by bringing together community resources and providing customized services. Rainbows United serves children birth – 21 with special needs. Some of Rainbows’ services occur in family homes while others are provided in one of our centers. The vast majority of the children we serve cannot be served by other community programs because of the children’s special needs. Currently 993 of the 1448 children being served by Rainbows receive Medicaid funding (69%). The poverty related need that the VISTA will address is the need to collect accurate data to support funding requests to serve children and families of Rainbows United at a time when funding is becoming increasingly scarce. Without strong, accurate data to secure and maintain funding, we risk losing services for our community’s most vulnerable population of children. IT Project VISTA will assist the Technology Team as it builds Rainbows’ capacity to organize data and provide quality services to families experiencing poverty or at risk for income challenges due to the special circumstances of their special needs children. The work will provide Rainbows the technology to track services provided to children who have special needs, in order to ensure accurate data can be used to secure funding that will allow Rainbows’ quality services to continue. Rainbows will see a qualified applicant with analytical skills who enjoys working on a project that will contribute to the greater good. At Rainbows, we make children and families our highest priority and the VISTA would join a team that works continuously to improve all aspects of our business.
