The Conneaut Human Resources Center is dedicated to making social services more available to the community by defining needs and providing programs and access to information to the over 2,500 individuals who utilize our facility each month. The service area, located in Ashtabula County, Ohio includes: the communities of Conneaut, Kingsville, N. Kingsville, Monroe, Pierpont, Sheffield, Richmond and the northern part of Andover. CHRC signature programs include: the Conneaut Food Pantry, Seniors Together, Right Track After School & Summer Program, Supportive Services, as well as services offered by our partner agencies to provide assistance and hope for those in need. Our agency partners include Ashtabula County Department of Job & Family Services, Conneaut Area City Schools, The Country Neighbor Program in Orwell, Ohio and the Cleveland Food Bank. The Conneaut Human Resources Center houses the Conneaut Food and Emergency Assistance Program, the HALO Conneaut (Holiday Angels Loving Others) Program, Conneaut Health Department, Right Track for Kids (After School and Summer Program), Seniors Together Program, Senior Levy Homemaker and Handyman Services, Salvation Army Utility Assistance, Conneaut Civil Service Commission, GED/ABLE (Adult Basic Literacy) Classes, WIC (Woman-Infants & Children), First Step Program (Offering infant supplies by Catholic Charities), Ashtabula County Community Action Agency (Senior Lunch Program), Summer Free Food Program for Kids, Ohio Benefit Bank, Free Income Tax Filing Assistance, HEAP applications, a free computer room and Wi-Fi access to individuals. Conneaut Human Resources Council, Inc. is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.

Member Duties : The Vista member will coordinate on behalf of the Conneaut Human Resources Center the Community Garden project with the intent to outreach to the service area the importance of healthy produce and nutritional eating habits. The member will also be responsible for the recruitment and retention of volunteers that will assist with the operations of the garden but also promote the garden to organizations, clubs, civic leaders and students. During the term of service, a database of volunteers needs to be developed, strategic planning for growth and/or expansion of the Community Garden in other parts of the city, develop a network of organizations, clubs and churches interested in the mission of the garden and overall marketing of the program.
