ShareCorps- HARCATUS

The HARCATUS Mission includes planning and coordination of programs designed to combat problems of poverty and to seek elimination of conditions of poverty as they affect inhabitants of urban and rural communities in Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas Counties. The mission of HARCATUS Family Support is to provide emergency services, utility education, information, and referrals to low-income households, enabling them to be self-sufficient. HARCATUS Programs and services include: The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Winter/Summer Crisis/PIPP Plus, Senior Nutrition (Home Delivered & Congregate), Housing/Weatherization (energy efficiency/conservation, insulation, etc.), Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Family Support (Ohio Benefit Bank/Tax Return Assistance, Food Bank, Clothing Bank, Community Nest, and the Homeless Crisis Response Program), Head Start, Training & Employment (In-School/Out-of-School Youth), Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and we provide In-Kind space to the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). The mission of HARCATUS Family Support is to provide emergency services, utility education, information, referrals, and case management to low-income households, enabling them to be self-sufficient. We have a Clothes Closet/Cupboard in our Carrollton office, Food Pantry in our Cadiz office, and a Community Nest that provides personal care items in our New Philadelphia office. The Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals to persons over 60 years of age and some handicapped individuals with special needs. SNP meals offer one-third of daily nutritional requirements as determined by the USDA. Participants may enjoy meals on week days at local (congregate) sites where other activities are available. Meals are be delivered to eligible homebound individuals. Home-delivered meals allow for personal visitation with staff.*HARCATUS is a VISTA sub-site of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program
