United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Community Building VISTA

As the area's premier impact organization, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region serves as a catalyst to increase the community's capacity to improve the lives of its citizens. Our aim is to support nonprofits in our region through investing in social change, recruiting and managing volunteers, providing economically disadvantaged individuals with basic necessities, material goods and professional training. We fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community. We pride ourselves in having a culture in which staff, interns and volunteers can voice their ideas alike. United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region launched a regional volunteer center in 2013. Since doing so, we have engaged thousands of volunteers in hundreds of opportunities that helped build the capacity of nonprofits in our community to carry out their work. The Community Building VISTA Coordinator will have the opportunity to expand on this vital community program. In addition, VISTA will support the CASH Coalition, a free volunteer tax service, which is responsible for completing thousands of tax returns and returning millions of dollars back to the community each year by recruiting volunteers and develop educational workshops and materials to recipients of the program. VISTA will also help build and expand efforts to bring the CASH program to rural under served communities served by our United Way and identify and recruit volunteers for other economic opportunity based programs that focus on job coaching/ placement and skills. Will you join us in our fight against poverty?
