2017-18 Volunteer Iowa: Keokuk Volunteer Engagement VISTA

The Keokuk Volunteer Engagement AmeriCorps VISTA member will build the capacity of the Affiliates by increasing volunteer engagement. This will be done by working with the leadership of the affiliates organizations. The VISTA member will be guided by a steering committee comprised of staff and volunteers of the Affiliates. This is a 3 step program: 1. VISTA member will analyze the Affiliates’ current volunteer programs and make recommendations to improve programs based on best practices 2. VISTA member will assist organizations in implementing recommendations and work with the organizations to increase volunteers through a volunteer marketing and outreach program. Volunteers will be engaged to participate in community and economic development initiatives lead by the Affiliates. 3. VISTA member will work with volunteers to organize and host a volunteer recognition event as part of Affiliates’ annual celebration. The VISTA will serve as a part of Volunteer Iowa's Rural Development and Opioid AmeriCorps VISTA project. Volunteer Iowa is a state agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. VISTA members with our program have the benefit of a statewide support network of staff, Commissioners, National Service Programs, fellow AmeriCorps members and a VISTA Leader. Members receive ongoing training, support, networking and professional development opportunities.
