SOTS-Hopi Tutskwa Permaculture Institute

Hopi Tutskwa's Permaculture Institute is not only providing natural building alternatives through their student internship program but also address food insecurity and economic opportunity by running a food co-op, orchard restoration (including fruit trees) and has created the platform for farmers to bring their crops to sell at the farmers market. The AmeriCorps VISTA supporting these great initiatives will be working to build the operational capacity of the Hopi Tutskwa Tribal Food Sovereignty Initiatives–specifically, the community fruit tree and plant start nursery, demonstration farm, gardens, orchards, Hopi Food Co -op, and the Hopi Farmers Markets.

Member Duties : The VISTA Volunteer on this project will coordinate with farmers to improve supply chain management during the Hopi Farmers Markets. Identify areas in need of improvement.
