Member Capacity Builder

Prosperity Indiana supports a network of member organizations – community-based nonprofits, governments and private enterprises – that builds vital communities and resilient families. Prosperity Indiana provides capacity, financial resources, expertise, and connections that make community development work in Indiana. Part of Prosperity Indiana’s approach to building capacity in its members is through training and technical assistance. Technical assistance can take many forms and is typically funded through grants or fee for service consulting agreements. The Capacity Builder VISTA would help create a system and find resources to provide capacity building services at no or low cost to member organizations. Part of the VISTA’s role would also be to assess capacity gaps at member organizations and deploy capacity building services alongside members to bridge these gaps on short-term or project-based initiatives. Capacity Builder VISTAs will gain exposure to the broad field of community economic development in Indiana, while supporting member organizations’ efforts to change or expand how they serve their constituents. Candidates must possess organizational and leadership skills, verbal and written communication skills and work independently and as a team player. They should have an interest in asset-based assessments, creating processes and systems, and utilizing metrics to inform the delivery of outcomes. A resource development background and understanding community economic development and nonprofits are also relevant. Prosperity Indiana is located in downtown Indianapolis at The Platform, a co-working space that houses national, regional, statewide and local nonprofits. The Platform is part of the Indianapolis City Market, which hosts vendors and weekly farmers’ markets, as well as the Indy Bike Hub/YMCA. Contact Jessica Love, Associate Executive Director, at jlove@prosperityindiana.org for more information. Start date: June 2017. www.prosperityindiana.org.
