Enrichment Specialist - Youth Achievement AmeriCorps - RHT
 
 
 
The Youth Achievement AmeriCorps is a team of hardworking and dedicated AmeriCorps members who serve in schools, enrichment programs and early literacy programs to help close the achievement gap in the Cedar Rapids Community. Reduced Half-Time members serve 675 hours at their respective host sites over the course of their service term from February 20th, 2017 – August 21st, 2017. Members will serve roughly 30 hours per week through May at their school site, and then roughly 25 - 30 hours per week to support summer programs at the Cedar Rapids Public Library, Jane Boyd and/or at Kids on Course. Service Position Summary: Reduced Half-Time Enrichment Specialist will provide reading and math tutoring, classroom support, and enrichment programming for either elementary or middle school sites, including: Johnson Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Van Buren Elementary, Grant Elementary, or McKinley Middle School. After the school year, members will continue to perform tutoring and enrichment activities at one of the following summer programs: Cedar Rapids Public Library, Jane Boyd and/or at Kids on Course.

Member Duties : -Lead enrichment programming at their respective site or in conjunction with the CRPL; -Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions using prescribed literacy interventions to help students solidify their reading and/or math skills; -Assist in planning/implementing programming at their school or summer site; -Help plan, coordinate and facilitate summer enrichment programming with local area non-profits (as determined by need and position fit); -Maintain a tutoring log to record students’ progress; -Communicate regularly with program and site staff; -Manage and recruit volunteers -Attend site-sponsored activities and trainings; participate in reflection and service activities; -Assist with data collection and input; -Support summer programming by providing tutoring assistance, enrichment support, and promoting engagement activities with partner agencies;
