South Carolina Campus Compact- Spring 2017

We are currently recruiting for institutions located in South Carolina! South Carolina Campus Compact (SCCC) VISTAs come from a variety of backgrounds with different professional goals, but all are prepared to take leadership roles in planning and facilitating service projects and inspiring students, faculty, staff and community members to take action together. SCCC VISTAs act as change agents on their prescribed campus and in the surrounding community and have a demonstrated commitment to community service and social justice. We look for candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills who will empower communities, leverage institutional resources, and build capacity for sustainable social change. SCCC sponsors AmeriCorps VISTAs on member campuses throughout South Carolina. Our VISTAs respond to the needs in the community surrounding the college or university in which they serve and mobilize student volunteers to make an impact both on campus and in the community. We do require that VISTAs have a Bachelor’s degree. Personal transportation may be required based on the location of placement. SCCC is a coalition of 16 South Carolina colleges and universities working to promote and develop the civic purposes of higher education. SCCC aims to improve the ability of higher education institutions to partner with their communities to collectively impact community needs and provide real world learning for college students through community service opportunities. SCCC is a member of National Campus Compact, a coalition of 1,100 college and university presidents - representing some 6 million students! To learn more about SCCC's VISTA program, please contact the VISTA Program Coordinator of South Carolina Campus Compact, Emily Schuh at sccc@winthrop.edu.
