AZ Refugee Resettlement - Affordable Housing

The Arizona Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP) VISTA Project’s mission is to support refugees’ effective resettlement in Arizona. Affordable, clean, and safe housing is an important component to the successful resettlement of refugees. It is important for the agency to develop positive relationships with apartment complexes who will agree to provide rentals for refugees and work within the agency system. The growing number of arriving refugees plus the added difficulty of needing larger apartments for families with multiple children are the motivation for adding additional apartment complexes to our network. Having partner apartments located in various parts of the Phoenix metro area also assist refugees in being closer to their employment. Donations of furnishings from the community are also a key component to helping stretch the resettlement dollars for each family. Finding resources for purchasing needed furniture is also important to making the best use of resettlement and placement dollars.
