The Oaks Academy seeks candidates that are mission-driven, career-minded, self-motivated, idea-inspired, and social justice oriented. Ideal applicants are seeking significant responsibility within a quality learning experience alongside fundraising professionals. The Oaks Academy is a growing network of schools currently serving 730 Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students at three locations in Indianapolis urban neighborhoods. Students benefit from a Christ-centered, classical education that is humanities-based with an interdisciplinary curriculum filled with Latin lessons, nature walks, and recitations. The Oaks Academy was founded to serve children of diverse backgrounds. Approximately 50% of students’ families are low income, 25% are middle income, and 25% are high income with about 40% who are Caucasian, 40% who are African-American, and 20% who are Asian, Hispanic or Multiracial. The Oaks Academy distributes scholarships to over 75% of enrolled families, which equates to over $2 million in need-based scholarships. In line with VISTA’s mission of poverty alleviation, the goal of this project at The Oaks is to effectively serve families in poverty: through the admittance of low-income students and the raising of funds for their need-based scholarships.
