Grace Hill - Housing and Community Development VISTA

The mission of Grace Hill is to provide opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to become stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant. A leader among non-profits in St. Louis, Grace Hill operates three early childhood education centers and two community centers in north and south St. Louis City, serving more than 3,600 individuals and families each year. Grace Hill is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to build the agency’s capacity to understand and implement community needs in the context of a comprehensive housing and needs assessment process. Grace Hill is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to design assessment tools, secure partnerships, and collect data about the housing development process in the College Hill Neighborhood of North St. Louis. In addition, the VISTA member will be responsible for attending and sharing results from community meetings, building a training for staff on the needs assessment/evaluation process, and sharing results broadly with the non-profit community in St. Louis. Skills and Abilities: •Strong sense of cultural competency and a desire to work in diverse, urban neighborhoods. •Excellent written and oral communication skills. •Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently to complete tasks. •Impeccable customer service orientation. •Demonstrated ability to work on teams and strong interpersonal skills. •Strong computer skills including the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and e-mail software. Willingness to learn new database systems, including Efforts to Outcomes and other data analysis software. •Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
