Chronic Absence Solutions - VPS

The third year of this project needs your enthusiasm and skills to put together the final steps to end chronic absenteeism in Clark County. Help develop and refine activities to engage and empower students to develop the knowledge and essential skills to become a competent, responsible, and compassionate citizen. Our goal with the Chronic Absence Solutions project is to ensure that low-income and generally at risk children in Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) attend school regularly (missing less than 10% of instruction). Approximately 5000 students grade K-12 were chronically absent in 2014-2015. The final year of this project will expand previously developed activities at our three pilot elementary schools to a district-wide focus of all VPS students. The member will collaborate with families, the community, the Healthy Living Collaborative and Vancouver Housing Authority Campus of Learners.
