Volunteer West Virginia, the state's commission for national & community service is sponsoring a VISTA project designed to help individuals, families, and communities recover from the recent devastating floods that hit the region in June. Selected VISTAs will be assigned to community organizations in one of the 12 Federal Disaster Declaration counties throughout the state to assist in individual and community efforts rebuild and recover. VISTAs we be working along side of local long term recovery committees and will provide volunteer recruitment and management, develop partnerships, link community members with services and referrals, and develop community outreach strategies and education on disaster preparedness.

Member Duties : Working with local long-term recovery committees, VISTAs will organize volunteer opportunities, develop partnerships with local, state, and national organizations assisting in disasters, link target population to services and resources, develop cash and in-kind resources, and develop strategies and materials for community outreach and education on disaster preparedness.
