Friends of Nevada Wilderness Stewardship Associate
 
 
 
Schedule: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, however hours will vary by season and there will be many weekend stewardship projects that will involve 10 hour days. Term of service is a 900 hours . The Stewardship and Outreach Associate will inspire interest, appreciation and stewardship of public lands across Nevada. The member will also assist in planning stewardship projects including,improving and maintaining back-country trails, treating areas for noxious weeds, removing old fence, fire restoration projects and improving riparian habitats. The Stewardship Associate will help with outreach event planning and coordination, communications and media and data entry.

Member Duties : Assist and lead a variety of stewardship projects throughout Nevada, mostly in back-country settings, manage volunteers in remote locations, identify outreach opportunities, participate in volunteer recruitment activities such as tabling at community events, give presentations about Friends of Nevada wilderness and current volunteer opportunities to community events, clubs and organizations, prepare and distribute press releases and media packages regarding stewardship opportunities and events to media outlets, learn all aspects of volunteer communication, assist in educational presentations in classrooms and outdoor schools throughout the community. Distribute and maintain posters and fliers about FNW stewardship projects throughout the community, update volunteer/media contacts in database, name, edit and store photos from stewardship program trips and events, provide photos and written content for FNW email/newsletters, maintain accurate and timely preparation of project files.
