Idaho AfterSchool Network Regional Coord. Coeur d' Alene

Have you ever had a huge challenge ahead of you and encountered someone along the way that had tools, knowledge or a connection to help you conquer that challenge? It is amazing what a connection can offer! The Idaho AfterSchool Network (IAN) works to offer those powerful connections to out-of-school (OST) program providers. The IAN doesn't directly offer programs but works with communities to enrich and expand programs during OST. We also work to build the awareness about the benefits of OST and are mapping and surveying programs to help better understand what the OST looks like across Idaho. Quality OST programs can drastically change a future. Children that are consistently enrolled in OST programs perform better academically, adjust better socially, are more likely to graduate high school, go-on to college, and less like to engage in risky behaviors that can lead to substance abuse, a criminal record, or teen pregnancy. Research has shown that this consistent enrollment can also close the achievement gap between lower and higher income students. OST programs are sometimes overlooked as a ally in helping overcome challenges facing our youth, our state and our workforce. At least until now. The IAN will ensure that OST is recognized as a crucial piece to the puzzle. Join the team that is leading the first program of its kind here in Idaho! Flexible, challenging and fun!
