TPWD VISTA- TX Children in Nature (Austin)

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's mission is to manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. This VISTA project will seek to improve K-12 academic performances in literacy and/or math by providing increased access to green spaces and outdoor learning opportunities and provide green jobs training. This project expects to benefit thousands of low income youth, veterans and their families. Twelve VISTA members and one VISTA Leader will contribute to the goals of the project by performing such activities as creating education and outreach tools, curriculum, training materials and green job apprenticeships which will allow TPWD staff and volunteers to serve low income youth, veterans and their families and their communities across Texas.
