United Way of El Paso Early Grade Reading Initiative

United Way of El Paso County is working to enhance our current education work by coordinating and implementing a cohesive approach to an early grade reading initiative across El Paso County. In the first year of this project, the primary objective is to get accepted as a member of the Grade Level Reading Communities Network and to implement a reading program plan, to engage community partners in increasing volunteer capacity to deliver services to low-income students. In year one, the pilot program will be initiated in two schools, one in central El Paso and one in the northeast El Paso, through enhanced training opportunities and volunteer recruitment.
