Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps Member 2018
 
 
 
The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service is now accepting applications from qualified candidates to join the 2018-2019 Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps. This year we have 24 VISTA positions that will start as a cohort in July 2018. Serve VISTA members perform indirect service to support City Departments that fight injustices and causes of poverty in Philadelphia. Each VISTA position is unique to the Department or initiative, but all Serve Philadelphia VISTAs build capacity. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, US citizen or permanent resident, complete criminal background check (if accepted); demonstrated interest in anti-poverty efforts, social justice and volunteerism; the ability to work and collaborate with diverse communities and stakeholders; strong organizational, time management and communication skills; Open to new experiences and growth. Benefits: bi-weekly stipend (approx. $509), end of service ($1,800) or education award ($5,920), relocation allowance (if applicable), transportation pass, and monthly professional development. Member Duties : Each VISTA position is unique to the Department or initiative, but all Serve Philadelphia VISTAs build capacity. Capacity building activities can include, but are not limited to: • Creating tools, systems and materials. • Generating resources through partnerships, volunteers and/or grants • Developing, organizing and/or assessing programs, events and/or meetings. • Supporting, establishing or strengthening cross-departmental and cross-sector partnerships.
