College Health Corps Campus-Based Positions 2017-18

The College Health Corps is a cohort of 12 VISTAs serving in communities and at colleges and universities around the state of Minnesota to promote health and educational equity through capacity building activities such as outreach, communications, grant writing, partnership development, and piloting new programs. (Project roles and responsibilities will depend on specific site locations. Sites have included Century College, Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and Inver Hills Community College. For example, one VISTA created a new Student Resource Center on campus where low-income students could find free food, get enrolled in health insurance, get a free well-child exam for their own children, get transportation vouchers, etc.) Low-income and first-generation college students face an array of systemic barriers to achieving their educational goals, such as access to health insurance, food security, safe housing, child care, etc. Join the College Health Corps to help make colleges student-ready through the creation of new partnerships and services. This program provides an excellent gap year experience for those interested in fields such as public health, higher education administration, etc., with professional development focused on equity, the social determinants of health, effective partnership development, and social change leadership. *** Specific sites and positions will be announced on March 6, 2017 at http://mncampuscompact.org/what-we-do/initiatives/college-health-corps/. Submit an application now for an early screening interview and priority referral to specific positions comes March 6.***
