Chisholm Trail-Giving Hope Communications VISTA
 
 
 
Giving HOPE Inc.is located in Denton, TX. The mission of Giving HOPE Inc. is to give a hand up to those experiencing or at-risk of homelessness through advocacy, community collaboration, and rental assistance in Denton County. Giving HOPE, Inc. assists people who live in Denton County, are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless; and have the ability and the desire to help themselves establish and maintain self-reliance and self-sufficiency. The Communications VISTA at Giving Hope will help develop a coordinated communication plan to educate the community about the agency’s services, activities, needs and accomplishments. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. As a Giving HOPE, Inc. Communications VISTA you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the AmeriCorps VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Early applications strongly encouraged. Member Duties : The Communications VISTA at Giving Hope will help end poverty by developing a coordinated communication plan to educate the community about services and needs of the homeless and near homeless. Major functions include producing a monthly newsletter, developing a social media plan and creating videos to educate the public on issues involving homelessness, poverty and other issues. The VISTA will be responsible for the development of events such as the State of the Homeless, Landlord Forum, Veteran’s Strategy Summit and the planning of the National Hunger and Homeless Awareness week. The resources developed by the Communications VISTA will endure for years, however the VISTA member will have limited interaction with Giving Hope clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants must have exemplary written and oral communication skills as well as experience with social media, desktop publishing and public relations.
