Jewish Renaissance Foundation / STEP-UP

Established in 1996, the Jewish Renaissance Foundation (JRF) is a non-profit organization that currently serves more than 6,000 people in Middlesex County each year by providing support services in the areas of community development, youth and family services, employment training, education, childcare, and healthcare services. In collaboration, the JRF and AmeriCorps Program work together to place service-oriented individuals at various social service organizations within Middlesex County to work towards the ultimate goal of fighting poverty and improving the overall wellbeing of the community. Service Description: The Jewish Renaissance Foundation (JRF) AmeriCorps STEP-UP Program is responsible for implementing monthly life skills workshops that focus on personal and professional growth for students enrolled in the STEP-UP program at the AUL Charter High School. While functioning as an AmeriCorps Program Associate, the member will have the opportunity to directly support student success. Central to the AUL Charter High School and to the work done at the JRF is the desire for students to enjoy learning, obtain a positive social network, become resourceful, and maintain high academic standards for themselves. The Program Associate serves in the school alongside school staff to ensure that program needs are met with the safety and success of the service recipients in mind. Terms of Service: This is 900 hour (minimum) service position, which is approximately 15-20 hrs/week, for a full year of service (9/15/2017 – 9/15/2018). Throughout your term, you will receive a living allowance up to $6,686 (total), which is paid in biweekly installments. You will also be eligible for loan forbearance and interest payment for qualifying student loans. Successful completion of a 900 hour term will result in an Education Award of $2,887, which will be held in trust and is payable to qualifying institutions of higher education and/or loan companies.
