University of Miami-Inclusive Communities (FLCC)

Many Miami-Dade County communities face increasing gentrification pressures, as developers and cash buyers drive up the price of land, often leading to the displacement of lower-income households. Miami is in desperate need of community solutions that can limit growing gentrification pressures and create a shared equity model of land development that can ensure the stabilization of neighborhoods to promote economic prosperity and sustainable communities. The VISTA member will help collect data on land use, zoning regulations, and policy proposals to help create strategies for cross-jurisdictional cooperation on equitable development. The VISTA also will work collaboratively with the South Florida Community Development Coalition and the League of Cities to plan solutions for promoting inclusive development.
