Community Health Access VISTA

United Way of El Paso County (UWEPC) strives to expand the impact of community health by supporting efforts to provide ancillary services and connection to public benefits for UWEPC program participants. The Health Access Coordinator VISTA will work with AmeriCorps Resource Navigators and Family Resiliency Navigators to ensure that both program participants have access to and knowledge of SNAP, WIC and other public health benefit programs. The goal of the VISTA is to increase the amount of participants at the El Paso United Family Resiliency Center (FRC) and UWEPC’s Parents As Teachers (PAT) program who enroll in SNAP, WIC and healthy eating programs, through trainings and creation of supplemental communications to navigators. Member requirements include experience with community-based program management or grant experience; public education/awareness campaigns; and experience working with individuals with limited English proficiency, disabilities and other vulnerable populations. The VISTA member will focus on initiating, building, and expanding relationships with community leaders and key stakeholders.
