Opportunity Council - Vol Ctr. Outreach & Development VISTA
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps VISTA will build on our work to improve and expand our volunteer systems that support our agency and local partner organizations serving clients who are low-income or in need. This work will include fundrasiing to suport volunteer activities, especially for social service programs that depend heavily on volunteer support to fight poverty. This will also focus on creating a coordinated marketing strategy to promote community volunteerism and engagement. And it will develop more efficient, effective tools to help social service agencies with the challenge of recruiting, training and retaining volunteers.

Member Duties : The Outreach & Development VISTA will: 1. Research, write and submit grant applications to produce volunteer resources for Opportunity Council programs that are heavily reliant on volunteers. 2. Develop a story bank of volunteer and client experiences to use in promotion of the Volunteer Center and VC partner agencies. 3. Build capapcity for fundraising events by developing project plans and comprehensive list of needs and duties for each event. 4. Help develop a manual of event planning processes and procedures documenting a work plan to be used in future years. 5. Develop a marketing strategy to increase awareness and interest in volunteering to support agency programs and partner agencies serving a population living in poverty. 6. Research and develop informational publications and will improve our agency's and partner agencies' success in recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers needed to deliver critical services.
