Member Duties : Texas Conservation Corps Bastrop Trail Crew members will perform strenuous physical tasks outdoors in all types of weather. The majority of projects will be trail-building and parkland maintenance projects in Texas State Parks. Service projects may include building and maintaining trails, constructing stone retaining walls, check steps, boardwalks, and chainsaw work. Members will be trained in using tools such as chainsaws, picks, pruning saws, loppers and rock bars. Members will be expected to participate in extended service trips to Bastrop State Park for 5 days at a time. These trips involve long hours, camping, outdoor group cooking, and a team effort. Camping experience is a plus but not required, just a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard within a diverse crew environment. Housing is not provided with this position. Crews can expect to travel up to 75% of the time for projects.
