Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success. Montana statewide is at only a 40% college graduation rate, much lower than the estimated need of 60%. In Missoula, the poverty rate is increasing, with the most affected group being kids under 18. The AmeriCorps program will help engage college students in delivering college-positive mentoring and guidance to underserved girls in grades k-8. They will engage them in mentoring, college access, leadership, STEM, and outdoors programming. The team will serve with APD in school Troops. They will partner with local campus to develop at opportunities to bring elementary and middle school girls to campus to engage with professors and different departments with a variety of majors. The team will support lessons and activities for girls in Alternative Program Delivery Troops with partners and schools. The team will provide direct service to at least 30 elementary or middle school girls.

Member Duties : Join a team to support underserved girl scouts. In Billings and on the Crow Reservation, the poverty rate is increasing, with the most affected group being kids under 18. The AmeriCorps program will help engage college students in delivering college-positive mentoring and guidance to underserved girls in grades k-8. They will engage them in mentoring, college access, leadership, STEM, and outdoors programming. They develop at opportunities to bring elementary and middle school girls to campus to engage with professors and different departments with a variety of majors. Support lessons and activities for girls in APD troops at local schools. The AmeriCorps member will commit to serving at least 300 hours of service. Successful candidates will be passionate about creating equitable opportunities and addressing barriers for all youth to attend college.
